Cookies & Preferences
This website does not set HTTP cookies or load analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking scripts. It offers one optional local browser storage entry solely to remember if you wish to hide the privacy banner for six months.

1. Your choice and zero-cookie design
You can read every page of vientianepharmaceuticals.com without saving any browser preference. Selecting “Continue without saving” on the notice banner or preference dialog creates no storage entry, removes any previously saved entry, and dismisses the banner for the active page view only. Because nothing is written to persistent storage when you choose that option, the banner may reappear when you navigate to another page or visit again later.
Selecting “Remember for 6 months” saves a single preference entry in your current browser for 180 days so that the banner stays hidden across pages on this domain. Choosing to remember the banner dismissal never activates analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party scripts.
2. Technical specification of the single entry
When you opt to remember your choice, our local script (assets/site.js) writes one item to window.localStorage under the key vp_privacy_notice_v1. Unlike HTTP cookies, localStorage entries are not automatically attached to HTTP request headers sent to the web server.
The stored JSON value contains two fields only: version: 1 (identifying the schema version) and expiresAt (a Unix timestamp in milliseconds representing 180 days from the moment you clicked the button). It contains no unique user ID, IP address, name, or session history, and our code never transmits this value outside your browser.
3. Six-month duration and expiry
The saved preference remains valid for 180 days. Because browser localStorage does not run background timers while a website is closed, expiration is enforced whenever you load a page on this site: if the current time exceeds expiresAt, the script immediately deletes vp_privacy_notice_v1 and displays the notice banner again.
Preferences are specific to the browser profile and device you are using and do not synchronize across devices unless your own browser software performs profile syncing.
4. How to change or clear your preference
You can inspect, change, or delete your preference at any time by selecting “Cookie settings” in the website footer, which opens the “Your privacy choices” dialog:
- Clear saved preference: Immediately removes
vp_privacy_notice_v1fromlocalStorageand restores the notice banner. - Continue without saving: Clears any existing entry and closes the dialog or banner for the current page only.
- Remember for 6 months: Writes a fresh 180-day expiration timestamp to
vp_privacy_notice_v1.
You can also remove the entry using your browser’s built-in developer tools or “Clear site data” settings. If JavaScript or local storage is disabled in your browser, the website remains completely readable and no preference is stored.
5. Standard browser caching and motion controls
To load pages efficiently, your web browser may temporarily cache static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SVG files in accordance with standard HTTP cache headers. Additionally, if you use the “Pause motion” button on the homepage hero illustration, that pause state is held only in temporary page memory (via a CSS class on the document element) for your current view and is not written to persistent storage. The stylesheet also automatically respects your operating system’s prefers-reduced-motion: reduce setting.
